Re: 3dsmax disappears translating bin mesh object during ren
hi luis, thanks for working with me on this. I was in the middle of holiday prep and didn't see your last reply. I tried your suggestion. originally I had been working with a mesh sequence that was built in RF. I tried importing that BIN via the VDB messher button but no mesh arrived into the scene....

Re: 3dsmax disappears translating bin mesh object during ren
hi luis, you were quite right - that I was running an old version of RFRK. (it was not originally apparent at the download page what exactly RFconnect was.) I uninstalled the previous version 1st and then ran the new RFconnect exe. sadly however, updated the plug hasn't changed the problem. after th...

Re: 3dsmax disappears translating bin mesh object during ren
thanks for the reply luis. I believe that I have the latest RFRK installed but the graphic buttons in MAX say RFRK3 on the four Create buttons. is there an info page that can be called up to tell me what RF versions are running? I have installed RF2015 - is RFConnect a different way to install the p...

3dsmax disappears translating bin mesh object during render
hello, I'm hoping someone might give me some insight into what the real issue might be here. 3dsmax disappears while translating bin mesh object during a mental ray render. I am running RFRK3 in 3ds max 2014 and working with files that were created in RF 2015. the sequence is a 100 frame animation t...

Re: RFRK and MAX2013 Mental Ray Workflow
hi luis, thanks for the quick reply. my confusion was in my expectation that importing a hybrido simulation with foam and splash would all be done within a single 'container' in the MAX scene. because I will need to transform them once imported (scale, rotate) to sit correctly in the scene, I was th...

RFRK and MAX2013 Mental Ray Workflow
I am posting this in the general Renderkit section because I am not certain which RFRK toolset I should be reaching for. I've been with Realflow since R3, and have worked with precalculated meshes for Hybrido in RF2012, but have never gotten my head around RFRK. When I finally took this on, RF2013 w...

Re: Hardware Recommendations for RF
thanks for the feedback, guys. some things to think about. oldcode, I was an original AMD fan - the first machine I built was based on a AMD DX80 at a time when Intel's best offering was a 40 mHz chip. but over the years I have seen that with certain complex software, it is better to run it on the s...

Re: Hardware Recommendations for RF
Narrowed down the choices some, but plenty of options left to suss out. looks like a RF sim hits the CPU pretty hard. still not sure if the overhead of a dual CPU rig outweighs the benefits here. but in the name of expandability I am looking at the family of 2600 xeons over the i7. I am going to go ...
