Re: RFRK Not Rendering
I am not getting any renders when using the renderkit. I did a really simple scene. Just created a circle emitter and some particles. It shows in the Viewport but doesn't show in the render. I put a sphere in the scene and that sphere rendered fine. I tried using Maya 2013 with Mental Ray RFRK, the...

Re: Best way to import particles in maya?
I think the best way is to use RFRK, it loads them fast and doesn't crash even with millions of particles. It might still be a little slow of course, but it's at least manageable unlike a massive .bin import.
Hope this helps you!

Re: Splash/Foam Emission Preview
That's true! To see the difference, I usually have to change frames after changing the values.

Re: Standard Paricles Improvments
I've taken it up to 5000 and it went at a reasonable speed with command line simulations. GUI simulation was impossibly slow.

Re: Random Numbers
Got it sorry I thought you were doing it with the curve editor, I skimmed through your post a little too quickly :P. I would recommend you do it the way I explained with the curve editor, the only reason you should do it with graphs instead would be if you want the node's value to change per-step be...

Re: Random Numbers
It goes like this. Lets say you want a rand from 2-6:
type 2+rnd(4) (The sum of 2 and a random number between 0 and 4)
Hope that helps.

Re: Secondaroies...Splash, Foam....
In my experience the spawning has worked like the old Hybrido.
Can you post a screenshot of so we can have a better idea of how the settings need to be tweaked for your scene?

Re: Changing Ocean Statistical Spectrum in Menu takes ages
Well anytime you change the settings, it will recalculate a new displacement map unless you set "Calculate displacement" to never. Either way it shouldn't take too long unless the resolution is high. I usually work with 512 until I like the result, then I turn it up for the final pass.

Re: Viscosity Difference: 2012 Vs 2013?
One thing I've noticed is that viscosity effects particles differently based on their resolution (probably because of the change in mass). But if you already knew that then it's probably not the reason that your sims are different.Oldcode wrote: 2012 V=200 Perfect
2013 V=350 Much less viscosity.

Re: Alembic particles?
I'm also curious about how that works. I know you can use them in RFRK, but idk how to load them with as Maya Particles.
