NO way to license Floating License version?

Post by Steve@sgdesign.com » Tue Aug 02, 2016 2:38 pm

Hello,
I bought the floating license version and there does not seem to be a way to license it.

For instance, the Realflow License Activator (Mac r17) only offers node-locked license key or demo options when launched.

Then through the website after I use the terminal to get the the HostId the interface says it is not the correct format

"/Applications/MAXON/CINEMA 4D R17/plugins/nextlimit/RealFlow/rlm/rlmhostid" -ether

Result:
Hostid of this machine: 70cd60f3910a 70cd60f3910d 18af61b84850 f20000195969 f20000195968

And then, the support link fails to present any selections for the first two drop downs , so that is of no use...

But other than that it works fine with Vray, Mac, C4d R17...

Hello Steve,

Thanks for posting. The main thing here is that your computer has obviously 5 devices with individual hostids - they're all separated by blanks. These are all individual ids and that why our system says that the format isn't correct:

70cd60f3910a
70cd60f3910d
18af61b84850
f20000195969
f20000195968

Please choose one of these Ids, e.g. the first one, and repeat the licensing process on the website. Currently, floating licenses can't be installed through the wizard and this has to be done manually. If you need further assistance please let me know.

Cheers,
Thomas

Thanks Thomas...
I was able to generate a license file to my local computer.

But then the instuctions seem to try to regenerate another lic file using my local RLM server:
http://192.168.1.64:5054/home.asp

Maybe this is a different licensing server?
Or since the .lic file was generated , I now need more to an Install procedure?

Additional details would be helpful.

I think the problem is that your installation lacks the nextlimit.set file. This file is the origin of the "No ISV servers running" error. The nextlimit.set file comes bundled with the RealFlow | Cinema 4D installer and has to be copied to
/Applications/MAXON/Cinema RXX/plugins/nextlimit/RealFlow/rlm
rlm_set.jpg
And, yes, you need another LIC file, it's the one with HOST IP_ADDRESS_OF_COMPUTER_WITH_RLM 5053. This file will bind your computers with RF|C4D running to the computer with the RLM.

Copy host.lic to /Users/<username>/Documents/realflow_cinema4d/license of all computers you want to use - including the machine with the RLM.

Please let me know if it works.

Hard to tell from a distance what's going on there. The fact that you don't have an ISV could point to another RLM, but I don't really believe that, because you don't have any ISV running at all. With a different software, using RLM, you should have at least one visible ISV table.

I have to ask my colleagues. They know the error codes (you got an error -1021) and maybe have another idea.

Hi,

Can you send me the license you have?. In fact, the license should be nodelocked. It means that RLM won't be necessary. So, if you open ...Documents/realflow_cinema4d/license folder and copy the license there, when you run cinema the realflow plugin should be loaded.
