RealFlow 2012 sims getting nowhere, using only 1 proc

Post by ifnewyork » Wed Jun 06, 2012 5:49 pm

I'm running RealFlow 2012 GUI on 12-core Xeon workstation, and RealFlowNode on 12-core (previous gen) Xeon blades.. all are behaving the same way -- when I attempt to sim, CPU usage sits at 10% (Task Manager shows one processor at 100% and the rest seem to be idle) and sim is extremely slow (if it's doing anything at all.. haven't seen a single frame in hours).

I tried disabling hyperthreading on the Node blade, with no change.

Seen a couple of other people reporting a similar issue here.. is there something up with this build of RF2012 or a problem on this hardware?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I'm dead in the water at this point.

Hi there,

Could you please post the full specs of your processors on both, desktop and blades?
We are trying to identify where those issues might be coming from.

Apologies for any inconveniences this might be causing you.

The workstation is the "Power Workstation" here:

The blades are the High Density westmere blades:

Hi,

Could you send us over the scene(s) you are getting this effect on, in xml format?
Please also send any geometry involved in the scene to our techdesk support.

Cheers,
