Ship on Ocean Guidance

Post by Frosty3d » Tue Sep 18, 2012 4:16 am

I have a simulation to create that has a specific wave height and period. I have done this successfully using RealWave and get the result I want.
I now have to have a ship interact with this ocean. The ship is already animated so I am not looking to use the software to solve that issue.
From what I can see, RealWave will provide some splash and foam but the resolution isn't as good nor as realisitic as what I have seen in Hybrido. If this is the case, how do I go about combing the two sections?
I can see that I can export the displacement from RealWave and I would assume I can also do this from Hybrido.
I would guess I need to import the displacement maps from Hybrido in RealWave??

Hi,

The displacement texture that you will get from Hybrido isn´t going to add more detail than the one you have with the Statistical spectrum waves, since they use the same algorithms.
Displacement in Hybrido gets used to add an extra layer of detail to the base of the simulation, mainly in the form of high frequency waves, but the look that you like from the Hybrido sims cannot get exported as a texture that you can use in Realwave for displacement right now.

Maybe in future versions we will connect the two systems so users can take advantage of the benefits of each one.
