Thinking Particles to Realflow and Two Other Questins

Post by Bardipper » Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:00 pm

Is it possible to import Thinking Particles from Max to RealFlow? Exporting a Max generated object as an .sd file, doesn't work. It doesn't see Thinking Particles.

Can a Max-animated-object have a RF emitter attached to it? I want to generate RF particles that travel in a helical path as animated in Max.

Or, can I animate an emitter to travel in a helical arc?

Thanks

Hi,

I attach a scene with a circle emitter following an animated box in 3dmax. Do you mean that?. It is only parenting the circle emitter to the box.

About thinking particles I think it is possible. I guess you are displaying the geometry as geometry, don't you? In that case, if you are exporting to SD with deformation to YES, the sd should be able to save the geometry info. Also you can try the Alembic exporter from exocortex in 3dsmax to export the particles as geometry. But remember you need to display the particles as geometry.

Luis, it's been a year since I posted this question. I had found another solution without using Thinking Particles. Now, I'm back to trying to use tp in RF. When exporting from Max, I get "Warning: Could not convert to mesh node: Thinking001". I want blood to drip off a letter (such as an "S"). Hybrido emits from a central point and I'm trying to work with the Object particle emitter to get a random emission, but tp does what I need. However, I can't get tp particles to convert to a mesh node. What do you suggest?
Thanks
