Stitcher and Foam Particles

Post by Borgu » Sat Dec 13, 2014 8:13 pm

Modo has new Alembic support so I created a quick Hybrido sim with a base fluid mesh and foam particles.

Good News: I was able to use the Stitcher tool with the base fluid mesh and create an Alembic sequence. It imported fine into Modo.

Bad News: I am unable to use the Stitcher tool with the Foam particles. The animation is 300 frames long. Each individual Alembic file ranges in size from 8k at the beginning to 100meg towards the end of the simulation. When I tried to stitch all 300 files the end result was a 8k file. When I just picked the last 10 files (frames 291 through 300) and tried to just stitch those files together it created a 60 meg file. When I bring that file into Modo particles appear but there is no animation.

What appears to be happening with the Foam particles is Stitcher is creating the file but only including the first Alembic file. It's not creating the sequence. I uploaded the 60 meg file and asked a Modo developer look at it and he confirmed that there is just one frame of Alembic data in the file, not a sequence.

Any idea what is going on?

Have you got the latest RealFlow 2014 Update, I believe this solves that problem, as it has for me!

Hey Niall,

Could you check your last version of RealFlow?. RealFlow 8.1.2.0192 still had the same problem.

I downloaded the latest version (Nov 4th, 8.1.2.0192) and I still get the same issue. Using Stitcher to stitch together Foam particles appears to only add the first frame.

Hi Guys, sorry did not notice the replies. Yeah To confirm this issue is actually not fixed, I find Stitcher is been very temperamental, sometimes it works sometimes it dosent, no matter what frame padding you use etc.
