How can I import the variable geometries in Realflow 2014 ?

Post by chennn7 » Mon May 04, 2015 2:41 pm

Hi developers of Nextlimit, I'm a newbie here. :?:
How can I import the variable geometries (the topology of the mesh are always changing.) in Realflow 2014 ?
1. I made some geometries with Thinking particles 4 in MAX 2012. And I cached it with Xmesh 1.1.3. The topology of the geometries were always changing because of the particles. I tried to export the geometries with SD exporter plugin in MAX 2012. But nothing was imported in Realflow 2014.
2. I tried to export the geometries in ABC format in MAX2015. Then I imported the ABC file and tried to drag the timebar in Realflow 2014. The Realflow Crashed !! But the ABC file was fine because it can be import normally in MAX 2015.
Conclusively, how can I import the variable geometries (the topology of the mesh are always changing.) in Realflow 2014 ? It's impossible to make the mesh of TP created to be non-variable geometries now. This is very important to my project.

Hi cheenn7,

Unfortunately, RealFlow doesn´t allow for topology changes in the geometry that interacts with the simulations.
However, you should be able to import such a geometry, only Alembic format supported, for other purposes, like using it in preview renders.
In any case, the crash should not happen, so, could you please send us your geo .abc file so we can debug and fix that issue?

Cheers,

g-)

1. I think it is too hard to send the large ABC file from China to your country. All web drive outside China are almost blocked by chinese Fire Great Wall.

2. Do you mean there's no way to simulate the fluid to interact with the changing topolygy geometries ?
This will make my job super painful. The Volumebreaker from Thinking Particles always make the topology of the meshes changing.
