Okai, was not really aware of that, used all the time yellow FIRE button, will try it later ...enrique wrote:Sorry Tom
In RF you can have a Maxwell render by pushing F6 (or clicking the yellow FIRE button) to have an interactive view of the scene or you can go to "Playback/Maxwell Preview" and create a video out of your scene.
Although the engine is the same, the way RF deals with is completely different. My guess is that the problem is only in FIRE due to the interactive threading system.

I tested it , same result F6 or yellow FIRE button, same effect, crashed. I send you the bugreport & scene file via customer portal.
Best,
Tom

Hi Tom, I am not Luis but Enrique.
F6 and yellow button do the exact same thing. On the other hand you have "Maxwell Preview" that creates a video. That should not make RF crash.

Re: Constant crashes with FIRE
My issue seems to be with legacy meshes. Do you know whether Maxwell has a problem with them? I just tried a RK mesh and it seems to be ok...... I built the mesh, fire worked. I changed frame then went back, fire worked again. I restarted Rf, the RK mesh rendered.
I then turned on the legacy mesh and Rf crashed.

Yes, legacy meshes do not have a full implementation as they will be deprecated some day, so if you want to use maxwell don't use legacy meshes. Anyway it should not crash. I'll check that first thing tomorrow.

Re: Constant crashes with FIRE
I'll send you the scene I'm using if you want?
I'll upload it anyway in a few mins so you can try it tomorrow.
Thanks

Re: Constant crashes with FIRE
I've attached 2 versions of the scene. They're both the same but one upload has 1 frame of cache files, the other has 10.
9mb
1 frame (frame 300)

100mb
10 frame (frames 290 - 300)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7680428/Putty02.rar
-------------
Fire (and preview) only works with me when I initially build the mesh. If I change frame a and go back it crashes. When I load Rf and run fire, it crashes. I have to rebuild the mesh but I can't change frame again.
I've set the particles to not render but I've forgotten to turn the rendering of the meshes back on.
-------------
While you're at it, would it be possible for you to try and get the same look of the legacy mesh with a RK mesh for both the emitters? I'm having a bit of difficulty getting to to look the same.
Many thanks.
This is what an initial test looks like rendered. Quite a nice effect

Re: Constant crashes with FIRE
Thanks Otuama I found an error while rendering legacy meshes and fixed it. At the moment you won't be able to use them with Maxwell unless you rebuild them.
