Realwave Issue

Hey all,
When i purchased the LE edition i was at work so i installed it on my laptop (4xCore/6gb) and played about with the demo scenes etc.
i have now moved it to my main machine (8xCore/16gb) and its very very slow.
i have installed it on my second machine (6xCore/8gb) for the purposes of testing only
here are the results of a simple test scene comprising a Realwave surface with Oceanstatisticalspectrum and gerstner waves.
200 hundred frames, simmed to screen ->
PC1: 8xCore @4.0ghz 16gb Ram - 5 minutes 53 seconds
PC2: 6xCore @3.81ghz 8gb Ram - 12 seconds
Laptop: 4xCore @2.1ghz 6gb Ram - 28 Seconds
something's not quite right

Hi Deejay,
Could you share the scene so we can have a look and see what might be going wrong.
Odd results for sure, but without looking at the setup its a bit tricky to troubleshoot.
Also, I am sure you have seen this thread?

Might 'simply' be a drivers issue. Could you try and run the simulations in command line to check?

Hi Dave,
Will check it out.
Did you tried cmd sims or rolling out drivers to an older version at all?

Hey Gus,
I didn't try CMD.
PC1 is Nvidia GTX 580 based and have the latest drivers.
PC2 is Nvidia GTX 8800 Based and have the latest drivers.
the laptop is ATI HD 4250 based and is up to date.
(i guess you mean GFX drivers?)
would gfx drivers affect realwave?
Dave.
EDIT:
Just tried that scene on my laptop :-
CMD - 28sec
oGL on - 28sec
oGL off - 28 sec

Hi Dave,
Try cmd when you can please.
We have (thx Otuama) that some of nVidia latest drivers are giving problems not only with RF2013 but also with some other 3D packages, so, if possible, we recommend trying an earlier version of the graphics card drivers, not the latest one(s) to see if the problems are fixed.
We are still investigating to see if we can also do something to avoid this from happening, but for the moment it looks like the issues are coming from those latest drivers. If your simulation runs fine using command line, then it will also point to that.

Hi Gus,
Turns out i was using an older driver (nvidia driver announcements don't arrive sometimes)
so V314.22 Slow times with Rwave
updated to 320.18 still slow with Rwave.
I am reluctant to downgrade my GFX drivers as i have no issues with other 3D apps (and latest games)
EDIT: Just started windows in safe mode, and Rwave performance is still poor.
EDIT II: Just tried my other PC in safe mode, ~12 seconds for 200 frames.
Dave.

Hi Dave,
Been troubleshooting this issue with nvidia drivers today and we have got some initial conclusions here:

Hi Gus,
I don't own a Quadro card, so the drivers i have are different, the ones i tried so far don't work well-
Nvidia GTX 580
V314.22 slow
V320.18 slow
EDIT:
V314.07 slow
V310.90 slow
EDIT II:
V306.97 slow
V296.10 slow
that's as far back as i have.
its interesting that the latest driver with my GTX 8800 is working fine.
Dave.
