Multi layered Maxwell materials

I'm not sure if the use of 'multi layered' is correct but can Rf render materials such as this walnut chocolate one which has multiple texture files?

I get this result

I'm not sure if this is connected in any way but I'm having another issue rendering where textures are involved.
I'm simply trying to render a checker board material on a plane.
I've tried rendering the following:
Rf plane with checker texture from Rf Maxwell dir (png & jpg)
Rf plane imported into Maya, UV mapped & exported.
Maya plane (with UV's) imported into Rf.
Maya plane (UV'd) with checker texture, then exported
I've even tried an extruded plane.
Whenever a texture is loaded, Rf doesn't render the object. Rf does render when using the node colour or maxwell textures.
This happens with any type of object.

Hi,
Yes, you are right. The textures are not loaded when rendering with Maxwell, only if they are loaded as Maxwell material.

The textures are not loaded when rendering with Maxwell, only if they are
loaded as Maxwell material.
I presume this is a bug and connected to the first post in the topic (the odd Maxwell render) because the beta
could render image files in Maxwell? It was just a grass jpg (I think) which only worked correctly if I
UV mapped the object.

Hi Otuama,
The walnut material you downloaded has not been properly created. If you open it with Maxwell Studio, you will realize that it has a white value of Transmittance, while it should be dark (the picture that the maxwell resources web is showing looks good though). Let me know if you need the fixed material.
On the other hand, RealFlow can only use *.mxm files for maxwell render although it allows you to select jpeg or png files in the dialog box, this is a known bug.

Nah, it's ok, I don't need it fixed, thanks.

Are you saying it's a bug with Rf/Maxwell that it can't render jpg/png's or that the bug is that the dialog box lets you select jpg/png's?

The bug is that the dialog box allows you to select every kind of file (.txt, .zip, .mp3, etc). Only mxm files should be selectable.

Don't mean to sound like a broken record here but does that mean that people won't be able to load in texture files (jpg/png) to render within RF's Maxwell in the Materials 'From File' option?
They'll only be able to load in Maxwell files?
If so, that's quite annoying because it was previously possible in the beta and it was a nice option to have.

mmm Sorry, but no, it has never been possible in the beta. Maxwell only loads mxm files. In OpenGL (click a node and select the "Texture" tab) you can render with jpeg/png, but that's OpenGL, not Maxwell.
