Retime crashing...

Hi,

i got the retimer tool crashing constantly, when doing domain retimes, i got around it by deleting the object cache and all geometry from my scene.

works fine, but now i tried retiming a Foam secondary, and nothing seems to make it work.

as they are BIN particles i also tried the good old school Binary loaders but they don't seem to like it either.

any ideas, suggestions or maybe patches??????????

Hey,

Are you exporting any object when retiming?. Do you have a screenshot of what you are exporting?

Let me know.

hi,

no i am not exporting any geometry, just retiming the Foam BIN particles.

i did try re-timing a SD file (what i used in the sim) on another file but it was very very slow.

i deleted all objects and also the Domain, but still crashes

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/564 ... retime.rar

in the end i used file explorer to pick every 6th BIN file, delete the rest, and renamed them sequentially...

Hi Octavio,

does it crash during the retiming process or at the retimer dialog?

Hi,

So, but when you are using the retiming tool, what kind of objects appears in the Retimer export central ?

i got two crash scenarios.

-the one for re-timing the domain, which i can get NOT to crash by deleting all geometry and object caches, crashes as soon as i click on the input/output tab on the retime tool

-the crash for FOAM, which i can't get to work, i can go to the input/output export fine, and it will either crash after i press 're-time' or only write the first frame for the whole sequence.

ALSO, this is a bit counter intuitive i think, when you select a time range to re-time, you are actually selecting the resulting time sequence AFTER the re-timing is done.

So if my original sim is 600 frames, and i want to speed it up by 6, i need to specify a time sequence of 0 - 100. If i keep it as re-time 'Use scene range' as a new user would do, you would end up with 600 frames, with only the 0 - 100 being the ones you need. Confusing.

Hi again,

yes, you are completely right about the Output range of frames setup.
We will try to add the necessary extra fields to specify the input range instead of the output one. And then update the output range accordingly (if the user prefers so).

We have also noticed some crashes in the Input/output tab when there are objects in the scene. If I recall correctly, it is related to the animation.sd file reading. We can reproduce that one to fix it here.

We'll give a try to the foam and retiming to check what's wrong with them.

Thanks for the scene

ooops...was trying to add a screen cap and i got this

"Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."

hey, at least is not a Rf bug!

here is the dropbox link instead

i deleted all objects (from the SD) but left the 2 cubes.

Oops... let's see if the board admins can fix that quota limit.

In that screenshot you need to enable the checkbox of the Hy_Foam01 node. I mean the root one.
When the "root" checkbox of a node is not enabled then it is not considered for retiming, sorry.
