Advice for a paint bucket sim ?

Post by ValentinD » Tue Jul 09, 2013 10:12 am

Hello everyone !

I have to simulate a shot and I want to have your advice !

During the shot, a chameleon is pushing a paint bucket... Do I have to use the particle based simulation or hybrido ? It is an open bucket, so I can't use a fill object, what is the best way to fill it?

Any random advice ?

Maybe my post will be at a better place in work in progress ?

Thanks,

ValentinD

Hey,

I advice you to use sph for that because you'll need viscosity too and hybrido doesn't have at this moment. You have two ways to fill the paint bucket. First one with a simple circle emitter and saving an initial state when you want, and the second one, with a fill emitter adjusting the parameter to know what you want to fill.

Finally, I have tried the fill volume method and it take forever to stabilize, did you have any advice ?

(I have take my bucket, closed it, fill the volume, add a gravity, and simulate)

EDIT :

I have found that with my scale, my gravity is too high, it's OK now :)

Hi,

One thing you can do to speed up the particle settling is use the K_Speed demon. Set it for Min of 0, Max of 1. Set the "Limit and Keep" to yes.

This helps a lot. As soon as its settled, take the K_Speed out and start your simulation.

Good luck,

Hey,

You can use some daemon like drag to stabilize the fluid and deactivate it once the fluid is stable because.
