Hello!!
I am a fan of alembic, it has a couple of annoyances that are driving me nuts.
First the object normals don't want to be reversed, i do reverse them, and they do look reversed, but press 'simulate' and they go back to the original orientation.
the more annoying issue is dealing with FPS, I get an export abc file from max, at say 25 fps...goes in to Rf, but if i change the FPs output in Rf to 100, the animation gets stretched...it makes sense Rf doing this, but I do try many different FPS in Rf to get the result i need, so now i need to go back to 3dsmax and export at 100 fps, and have RF also at 100 fps so the animation matches.
I am lazy the less to and fro to 3d the better
Is there a way of overriding this behavior?

No. I am afraid there is not. We will think on some ways to overcome this issues in next version.

Re: Alembic FPS
i had that FPS problem once as well.
i think i used an sd-file instead which worked the way i wanted.
on the other hand - what if I actually wanted to stretch the imported animation as well? the current behaviour can be useful too!
An optional setting for both abc & sd files ( global, or maybe per object? ) would be the solution, i think.

I agree, if we could stretch the animation of the imported objects, without having to do it on a curve level...(which Alemebic won't allow, only works with SD but not on deforming geo), it would be really helpful
