Globule Tool

Hi all.
I'm in great need of some help(!).
For the final year of my BSc, I'm required to create a tool for a 3D application. I want to do one for Realflow (in Python) but time is fast running out.
Here is the link to my BLOG which shows what I want to do.
I have already hit a brick wall and can't for the life of me figure out how to solve my problem. It is for an important effect which should happen in my tool. I've spent so much time trying to think of methods to get this to work that I haven't even thought about how I'm going to do anything else.

In a lava lamp, when two separate globules (the oil/wax) meet, if they are a different temperature they at first collide with each other. They only consume one another when their temperatures are the same. For example:
Consume (Youtube)
I need to figure out a way to achieve that effect.
Does anyone have any ideas?
