How are you doing?
What drivers are you running on your graphics card?
I run the scene you sent me a while back yesterday and it behaved properly in our 3930k.
I wasn´t using the latest nVidia drivers. We found out that they have to fix them and hopefully there would be an updated driver soon that runs smoothly.

ey Gus!

All good here, hope you enjoyed your holidays!

I'm running a GTX 580 here with the 314.07 drivers.
the viewport being enabled indeed seems an issue.

200f sim in viewport:
i7-2600 (3.4Ghz) is done in 1m38,
i7-3930k (4.3Ghz) is stuck at frame 7 at 1m45 :)

same sim via commandline (via simulate button)
i7-2600 is done in 1m17
i7-3930k is done in 1m15

i've got the scene attached.

//edit > just installed the 326.41 beta drivers.. they make no difference.
is there an eta from Nvidia regarding this fix?

thanks!

Hey Marnix,

Just got back 8-)
Your 'old' scene runs at around 1h20m with GUI disabled in our 3930k.
I was using driver version 311.xx I believe. Will double check and also run this scene in case there are any differencies.
Nvidia said they will be releasing the new driver early Aug, but I still havent´seen it out.
Will talk to them again.

Hey Marnix,

A new beta driver from nVidia has just been released 326.80.
Mind giving it a go?

cheers,

just gave it a go, again, no joy :(
still super slow.

is there anyway to force realflow not to use the graphics card?
At the other computer there it's all running smooth with only the on-board intel chip as gpu..

On my machine, (Dual Xeon E5-2650) Hyperthreading makes Hybrido 2 simulations significantly slower, and SPH slightly slower. However I have no tested this on the lastest release, I'll have to try it soon.

I wanted to try your sim, but I couldn't open the scene because I am using the Learning Edition. I've been watching my k4000 during sims using TechPowerUp (same website). My GPU is not being used at all even though it is OpenCL1.1 compliant. All the work is done on my two 8-core Intel W5590 running at 3.3GHz. Would like to have helped as you guys have helped me a lot.

One thing I'm pretty sure of, is that even if your GPU is assisting the sim, the CPU will still be doing most of the work, and the GPU will just be helping. Would like to know exactly how the GPU contributes if anyone knows.

Cheers Florian,

Unfortunately the video has been recently taken out from the nvidia site.
I believe we may have it somewhere.
Will try and upload it to our channels if we still have it around.

@ CG_Nema:

http://support.nextlimit.com/display/rf ... imulations

Here you can also find information about how GPUs contribute to Hybrido simulations. In many cases, the GPU performs like an additional CPU/core, but this strongly depends on your graphic board and your Hybrido simulation. So, it's hard to express the contribution of a GPU in percent, but a common guiding value is around 30% faster with GPU support.
