Create a wetmap using cache ?

Hi, is is possible to create a wetmap, by using cache of an already existing simulation. I dont want to resimulate everything again, as it took 7h for 600 frames.

Yes, that's possible. First of all, set all simulation nodes to cache to avoid that anything will be overwritten. Then you adjust your wetmaps and re-simulate. RF will only load the cache files and create the wetmaps. Don't forget to activate the objects' wetmap resources in "Export Central" or the "Export" tab(s).

Hi Thomas, thanks for your answer. So it looks like I have a problem, because when I do this, the simlation takes the same time as if it was simulated in live, and not read from cache.

And do you see any difference when you set all substeps to 1?
You can also try to follow the workflow from this tutorial:

It's recorded for Hybrido, but the workflow is exactly the same for Dyverso.

Well yes, the simulation take 5min per frame with cache and substep to 1, which is nearly the same as my original simulation live.

This sounds as if the loading/caching process is the bottleneck in this proejct, not the simulation itself. How many particles do you have and do you perhaps work on a network drive? Or you have other simulations running as well, e.g. rigid bodies? If that's the case you disable object dynamics with a click on the triangle next to the "Simulate" button. There you turn off "Object dynamics". Another thing that could help is to run the simulation via the command line.

It's 30k particles simulation. I am working, on local hardrive, there is no other simulation running. Simulation is a plastic glass falling on the ground full of liquid. The glass and the ground are rigid bodies, they have been put in cache using the small orange rocket next there node. I have tested with fluid and Rigid bodies Dynamic off. Same result, the simualtion is superslow.

Wow
The 7 hrs for 30 K particles are way too long already - esp. with Dyverso. But even with standard particles this appears pretty slow. Is it possible to take a look at the scene? I'm really curious what's going on here. If you don't want to share it here just send me a link via PM.
I assume you let the simulation run for a few frames.Did RF write the wetmaps at least?
