Node not finding license

Post by Zybrand » Mon Jul 15, 2013 2:27 pm

Hey guys,

I can't get my learning edition node to use the node license I installed.

Got one machine where Realflow with gui license is running and this is also the machine with the Job manager and License manager on it, and a second machine with a realflow node installed.
Both machines see the available license if I view it through a browser.
The job manager sees and displays the available node machine and the node machine sees the Job manager.
But when I send a job to the manager the job fails after a few seconds with the error 8 not finding a valid license.
Here is the error below, any idea what might be the cause?

:::::::::::::::: 192.168.24.65 ::::::::::::::::
Start simulation process...
C:\Program Files\Next Limit\RealFlow 2013\realflownode.exe -script \\SHAMAN\Projects\Zybrand\rf\node_test\jobfiles\node_test__20130712165617.rfs
RealFlow simulation process started succesfully.

Hello Zybrand,

Are the both machines in the same network? If so, you can force to the node to find the manager by adding this environment variable

NL_LICENSE_MANAGER_ADDRESS = x.x.x.x

Where the x.x.x.x is the ip where you are running the License Manager. Also, make sure you have the ports 2223, 2224, 2225 and 2226 opened because the LM will use theses port to work.

Let me know if it works.

Hi LuisM,

thanks for the help! I am one step closer to getting it working. I now get the error unknown idoc so I think its getting the license atleast.
Why am I gettting the unknown idoc error?

Hi,

This message "This workspace file can't be loaded for this license" is indicating you are trying to open a standard scene with a Learning license. Problem with this is a misunderstood with the Learning Edition licenses cause it is not allowed to use it with the License Manager but it was not indicating the warning for now. For the new version we uploaded yesterday, it has been fixed and now you won't be able to upload a scene if you are using a Learning Edition license. Sorry for the inconveniences. :(

Hi Luis,

I suspected it was a versioning thing but I was hoping I was wrong. I created that scene in my Learning Edition Realflow and I have a Learning Edition Node. So how am I supposed to use the node license I got with the Learning Edition Realflow I bought last month?

thanks,
Zybrand

Hi Zybrand,

Apologies for the missunderstanding. I believe we have managed to confused a few LE users but not making this clear. Will try to get this sorted in the next major version so you can all use the License Manager then, but for now, here you can find instructions on how to install your node license so it gets properly picked up by the Job Manager :

Hi Gus,

Yeah I missed that thanks for pointing it out, I'll give it a go tomorrow. First thing I did when deciding to get my node license up and running was to go to the 5 part video tutorial page on the license and job manager.

Thanks,
Zybrand

My job node is finally working, yay!! :D

Thanks for all the help guys. this was my first time setting up any sort of licensing system other that a single machine license so I didn't know what I was doing half the time. But at least when I buy a standard license and some nodes I will know exactly how to setup up the system.

Thanks again,
Zybrand
