Network Simulation??

Post by ralle » Tue Mar 14, 2017 2:54 pm

Hi there,

i am trying to get my head around this issue. How does this work anyhow. When simulating a scene with multiple machines it cant be like network rendering, right. How is it supposed to know whats happening if frame 5, if frame 4 isn't finished yet?? We are in a pre-buying phase and i don't know if the render nodes are practical for us. We do have a small renderfarm (cpus) available on site. On my understanding it needs to be in an IDOC container?? Does this work for all kind of sims in RF? If this is for node/network sim, why is there a single IDOC? When i have, say 10 machines extra, would i set multiple IDOCs to the same emitter. Is there somewhere a good tutorial for that?

Cheers in advance
Ralf

Hi Ralf,

The main fluid must be calculated in one single machine because it is not a distributed solution. However, network simulation will work for secondaries, once the hybrido simulation is finished, as the main fluid won't change, and there will necessary to create a IDOC for each splash or foam in the scene where they can be simulated in different machines.

I hope it helps.
