RK mesh surface proximity
RK mesh surface proximity
Surface Proximity doesn't seem to be working with RK meshes.

Re: RK mesh surface proximity
Hi,
It seems be there is a problem with the values in the RK mesher. Anyway, we are taking a look at this to know what is happening. Thanks for reporting!

Re: RK mesh surface proximity
On the subject of meshes. I'm trying to decrease the resolution of a mesh but it isn't working.
Here is a poly size of 0.001:
0.05:

I have another mesh in the scene. It has 19m faces. Altering the poly size isn't changing it.
I've just restarted Rf and I'm getting the same problem.
I've disconnected the emitter, set it to auto poly size, turned off filtering, set it to metaballs etc but nothing seems to work. I've just tried the bug solution of setting splash to -1.0 in particle filters but that didn't work either.

After a few hours I've tried it again and it seems to be ok. I'm changing values and it's working now.

Strange. Any idea what was happening before? Were you doing anything wrong?Otuama wrote:After a few hours I've tried it again and it seems to be ok. I'm changing values and it's working now.

OF COURSE I WASN'T DOING ANYTHING WRONG!
Nah, seriously though, wasn't doing anything wrong. The mesh just wouldn't change. I was running a command line sim at the time but that's never affected anything in the past. My RAM and CPU were also fine.
The fact that it also happened after a Rf restart was odd.
Strange. Will let you know if it happens again.
It's annoying when it's happening because I don't want it to happen and want to know why it's happening but when it doesn't happen I want to know why it happened and why it's not happening anymore.

Gus, it seems to be doing it again.
I've uploaded a recording. There are periods of me not knowing what to do next because, well, I didn't know what to do next.

Hey,
sent the scene with the info for that frame, bins, sd, etc, to try here. It is very weird
let me know.

Re: RK mesh surface proximity
Really sorry.... I'm a hell of an idiot.
I just re-watched my video and noticed that the emitters weren't set to export. I've been enabling/disabling them quite often but completely forgot about them.
I don't however think that was the cause of the problem the first time it happened. I'll keep an eye on it and WILL double check everything is in order before I start crying to NL.

Hej,
if i understand the function of surface proximity right, i guess we have also problems with it. shouldn't it be closer to the particles / further away ?
attached you find a short screen capture.
let me know if you need more infos, or if my understanding was wrong
best.
