Cinema 4D Cloud Render

Post by DeltaJuliet » Thu Jun 27, 2013 6:15 pm

Hi,

I am trying to render clouds with C4DR14/RF2013LE
I have tried raising the density/brightness but I cant get anything to render.
I am using .bin files from a standard emitter.

cheers

Dave.

Did you launch the license manager before starting C4D and the render process? Is the RFRK license installed correctly as well? If both answers are yes, could you please send me your scene for testing? One last question: are you on Windows or OS X?

Thanks.

Hi tsn,

I am running win7 64, and have the license manager installed, however the license service wont start for some reason.
The service nl_license_manager could not start
It is listed in task manager as stopped, when i try to start it i get an Access is denied

i am logged on as admin.

cheers

Dave.

EDIT:

I have re-installed the license manager and it is now running fine (auto start service)
i added my licence with the -a switch (no errors) but when i use the web browser to access the license manager there a no licenses listed.

Ok, I see. Thanks for the information, Dave.

Is your RFRK somehow restricted, maybe a demo or temporary license?
I'll forward your question to one of my colleagues, because I'm not a specialist for that. Sorry for inconvenience. At least we can say that it's not a RFRK-related issue, but a LM problem.

Best,
Thomas

EDIT: I just modified my post, because I've somehow overseen your edit.

Hi Thomas,

I added the license from the conformation e-mail to the same folder as the lm and it -a added with no errors (Standard license)
thanks for the help.

just to confirm-

window7 64
RF2013LE

nl_license_manager service running.
standard license added without errors
I can access license manager via web browser (no licenses listed)

cheers

Hm... obviously you did everything correct. As mentioned, I'll forward your question and I want to ask for a little patience. I'm sure this issue can be sorted out. Thank you.

Hey DeltaJuliet,

It is a common issue with Administrator privileges. In Windows vista / 7 when installing you are installing the system as Administrator but you are not. Windows has a hidden real administrator account which is necessary to install some woftware in your system. In order to know if you are the real administrator for your machine, go to the start button, right click on the My computer and Manage. A new dialog will appear and click on Users and Local groups>Users>Administrator (right click on administrator to show the properties). If you watch now the administrator properties, you'll see a checkbox "This account is dissabled" and if it checked, it means you are not the real administrator for your machine but windows. If you uncheck this option, a new administrator accoun will appear next time you reboot and there you can install the renderkit licenses, license manager, etc.

There is another way to do that without uncheck the hidden administrator account (I prefer to uncheck it), and it is uninstalling the license manager and renderkit plugins, and installing the License manager with right button and "Run as administrator". Once installed, go to the commanline but click on the cmd with right button, and run the command line as Administrator as well. Once you have run the cmd as adminitrator, you will be able to install the licenses and start the service from the command line.

Aha! that's the problem, i had installed LM/rfrk as admin but didn't run CMD as admin (i have been caught out a couple of times with this)
i now have my license listed in the web browser, but not in use when C4D is running (as admin)->

EDIT: i just tried rfrk mesher and i get a pop up saying no valid license found

getting closer though ;)

cheers
