Hi,
I just finished simulating a grid based fluid sim and I made the mistake of saving the file with the cache enabled and closed my file. now I cannot open it any more since Realflow keeps crashing. the Realflow file alone went up to 4GB. Is there anyway I could still revive this file?
thanks,
Alvin
Open Realflow file again
Re: Open Realflow file again
This is something that should really be addressed in a patch!
If you haven't done an XML export of your file, chances are you cannot open it again. Try it on different computers and maybe NL support can help you.
If you have a version of that file, saved with a Grid Fluid inside that has exactly the same measurements and Resolution, you can point manually to the GDC files (look in Export Central (F12)) and go to Export -> Update Timeline Cache. This could bring back your Grid simulation, at least.

Re: Open Realflow file again
Thanks florianK,
Unfortunately, my preferences was not set to back up on an xml format. I guess from now on I should be mindful of that
and to make matters worst
I don't have any previous versions of my file, I set my preferences to auto-back up every 10mins and was limited to 5 files(wrong decision, will be turning this off). as for NL support, its not that important for now, I still have time to redo my steps and miss steps.
thanks once again very much appreciated.
cheers,
AlvinS.
