Large simulation suffering from a popping effect?

Post by JC_Chicago » Thu Jul 01, 2010 9:20 pm

I have been running similar simulations for the past couple of months, without any issues. Now, I have turned up the velocity from 3 to 7, and the attached movie shows the results. Any thoughts?

The fluid is entering the tank from the right, and into a settled "bed" of particles.

There are roughly 1.9 million particles in the scene.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you probably need to raise the minimum substeps in the simulation options.

just a guess.

I had one setup that i was simulating in RF4 and used it in a lot of projects, and when i've turned to RF5, same thing happened to me...particles just pooped everywhere! And it was the same scene...so i thought that maybe i have to make a new one in RF5 from scratch, so i did that, but still had the problem...
Keep walking!
