Straight Lines in Mesh??

Post by blueWater » Tue Aug 31, 2010 11:55 pm

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone else has a problem with straight lines appearing in RF5 meshes.
The lines are visible for a frame or two. Then they disappear.

Attached is a few screen grabs showing the lines in a couple of different spots on the mesh.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad,

How are you?

This is actually a known bug, but is fixed for the upcoming patch.

If you could pass us a screenshot of the parameters values for the RK mesh, we may be able to give you some tips to try and avoid the crack meanwhile.

As soon as this new RF5 patch is ready we will announce it in the forum.
Apologies for the inconveniences.

Cheers,

Hi Gus,

I am good. Thank you.
How are you?

I have snapped a couple of shots of the Mesh > Node Params and the Emitters > Node Params > Field settings.

I notice increasing the radius size in the Field Settings remove the lines a little bit, but then the mesh loses detail when the liquid breaks apart. The director likes the details in the mesh, just not the lines. The default radius setting of 0.08 had lines in the mesh also.
Did a little render test last night and noticed there are lines all over the place on the mesh. The lines even change directions sometimes.

Geo Scene Scale is .5 everything else is default scale.

Let me know if you need any other info.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad,

Can you do a stupid test to see if that makes any difference?
Set the Smooth parameter in the mesh to 49 instead of 50 and mesh again to see what happens.

Hello Gus,

I'll remesh at 49 on the Smooth and see if that makes a difference.
Will let you know what happens in a few...

OK. So that makes the line disappear, or the line moves to another part of the mesh.
Kind of a fix, but still causing the problem. It is like that game Whack a Mole. You hit one and another pops up!

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad,

The 'straight lines' problem have been fixed for the upcoming patch.
This was just a guess based on something that worked for me in the past :)
I don´t really know if that is going to 'shift' the cracks to another frame. Fingers crossed it will not.

Thanks for the input Gus,

I am going to use both meshes and fix the problem lines in comp. That will get me by for this round.
Glad to hear the problem is already being addressed with the new patch.

Have a good weekend!
Brad

Hi Aniki,

How are you?
There will be a few 'nice' bugs fixed in this patch, and they will all be on the release notes.
Anything in particular that you were looking for to be fixed?

We aim to release this one before the end of September.
