Cool, I'll run that scene as well, but I use Learning Edition so I can only run the benchmark if it builds the scene by python/graph. Hope to see you results soon.FlorianK wrote:Truly speaking, I haven't measured that with the stable release, yet. As I am about to doing some serious R&D and setups in the upcoming months, I can tell you more about that, soon.
From how I understand the Algorithm inside RF as it was explained by Angel Tena last Siggraph (there are viedos somewhere in this forum), you will get the most out of GPU support when there are serious amounts of particles in the scene. If I've got time tomorrow, I will create a Benchmark scene and upload it here, so we might post results and see what's going on.
Not using GPU and only 1/4 CPU

According to the Realflow website, the software does not use CUDA for GPU acceleration. It uses OpenCL, and only with Hybrido2. This is why my $800 Quadro k4000 doesn't work with RF. Hopefully NextLimit will remedy this.

That you spent too much money for an overpriced GPU?

Hi Bardripper,
What kind of problem are you experiencing with your graphic card? Simulating with hybrido will increase the performance for your simulations, but you are right, only simulating with hybrido. If you note that the simulations are slower, try to change the graphic card driver for your graphic card because the Quadro 4000 is giving some problem, not only with RF, but also with some 3d packages.
Let me know.

Re: Not using GPU and only 1/4 CPU
I've changed k4000 drivers from the newest to the previous one. I'm using Hybrido for the sim. In the message section RF indicates that the sim is being done by the k4000, but TechPowerUp shows the GPU load and memory, aren't used at all. Task Manager shows all 16 cores being used and maxed out at times.
I'll switch drivers again to see if there's a change.
Thanks, LuisM.
BTW, your tutorials are very helpful.
I have another question for you, please. Since you're on this thread, let me ask it here. I have a human character mesh built in Max. It is normal size (6 feet tall). In RF, I scale it down to 0.1. the resulting Hybrido sim is over 100GB. Is this normal? Is there another way to sim an even smaller scale character and then scale it back up to normal in Max?

Hey,
The sim in hybrido is over 100GB? How many particles do you have in that scene?. Maybe you can increase the cell size global scale paramater a bit so you have got less particles. About the scale for your character, when simulating in RealFlow, and importing the SD in your 3d platform the animation will pasted in the model you had in the scene with the same name, independently of the scale.

Thanks Luis. That worked. However, I'm installing a 3TB harddrive to take sim data, most of which is temporary as it is testing the look.

Ok. Let me know if it works properly.
