Hi,
Remember the problem when you are using an initial state at frame 0 and start the simulation, it ignores the initial state and the next frame the particle count goes back to zero?
I thought this problem had been fixed in one of the 2013 updates. At least it seemed to be, but it happened again to me last night. I started the simulation just before I went to bed, but when I woke up, instead of having almost a 1 million particles, I only had a few thousand.
When I reset the simulation, then put the timeline onto frame 1, the problem goes away.
I just wasted an entire night of simulation time on a bug I thought was fixed. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Zero Frame Initial State Bug
Re: Zero Frame Initial State Bug
Mine will skip frame 0 and start simulating at frame 1 as if its frame 0, but still simulate frame 0 and output nothing...
Re: Zero Frame Initial State Bug
Yeah, that's what I do to get around the problem, but we shouldn't have to do that.
Re: Zero Frame Initial State Bug
Hello guys,
Still unclear to us how do you get to the issue.
Is there any chance you can record a clip showing the problem you are having with the initial state?
It seems to be working perfectly fine at frame zero here.
Cheers,

Re: Zero Frame Initial State Bug
It happens in command line gus, not in gui mode
We'll save an initial state, and then start the sim in command line. Command line seems to simulate frame 0, but when you update the timeline cache and play it, frame 0 is missing and starts everything from frame 1.
We switch to gui mode and sim frame 0
I also want to point out something else that's happening, at least on my end.
A lot of times when I stop an animation and resume, regardless of frame, the particles or the geometry, something adjusts and then some of my particles are outside of the object I'm trying to put them in....

Re: Zero Frame Initial State Bug
Hello folks,
We are adding some options to the command line jobs sent from the GUI, so hopefully this won´t be a problem anymore. It seems to be working just fine and files are written at frame zero when using initial state from both GUI and cmd line.
Thanks for raising the issue.
